Falls Park is a gorgeous park in the heart of Sioux Falls. Enjoy magnificent quartzite rock formations, viewing areas, walkways, and picnic areas. View some of the city’s earliest buildings and a visitor information center with a five-story observation tower. The quartzite building still standing on the east bank is the original Sioux Falls Light and Power Company building. Today, the building is home to Falls Overlook Cafe serving a variety of family-friendly foods, ice cream treats, and beverages. Adventurists will love walking, jogging, biking or rollerblading the 19-mile trail beginning at Falls Park and looping around the city.
The Washington Pavilion is Sioux Fall’s home for the arts, entertainment, and science. Located in a beautifully renovated historic building in downtown Sioux Falls, it is one of only a handful of facilities in the world to bring together under one roof the performing arts, visual arts, interactive science and educational opportunities. Washington Pavilion offers a vast collection of top-quality educational activities. People of all ages can count on the Pavilion to entertain, inspire, educate and enrich their lives.
While visiting Sioux Falls, you won’t want to miss a trip to the USS South Dakota Battleship Memorial. The USS South Dakota was the most decorated battleship of World War II, having participated in every major battle in the Pacific from 1942-1945. The US Navy Memorial in Sherman Park, displays the shape of a ship, with authentic guns, anchors, and propellers. The Memorial honors those who served, and those who died, aboard the vessel. The memorial is open daily from Memorial Day through Labor Day and is free to enjoy, but they do rely on donations.
